Are you in practice-building mode? Have you assessed your current state, identified your values, learned your Highest Talents™ and clarified your sweet spot? If not, see my June, 2024, newsletter for a quick review

Following are the next steps in growing your successful practice:

  1. Learn continuously. One of my favorite memories is of my Grandma Tony, who earned  her PhD from Cornell in 1910, telling me at about the age of 85, “When you stop learning, it’s all over.” It’s a mantra I try to live by and I encourage you to do so, too. Information changes, your clients’ situations and needs change. To continue serving them well, you must stimulate your mind, stay current and learn continuously.
  2. Know what you want. What is it you want in life, professionally and personally? Create your own success vision, getting as clear as you can. Don’t play small, but dream big. If you strive for big dreams, you might not achieve all of them, but you’ll achieve more than you would if you didn’t dream, if you played small. Let your success vision inspire and guide your actions.
  3. Prioritize. What are the things you must do? What are the things you want to do? What are the things you can delegate to others? There are probably things that you, maybe you alone, must do. The things you want to do are likely related to your Highest Talents™, things you do well and enjoy doing. What can you delegate? It’s important to delegate as much as you can for at least two reasons 1) to develop others on your team and 2) to free up time for you to do more of what you enjoy most.
  4. Make your best contribution. When you prioritize your work and time so that you do more of what you love and less of what you don’t, you’re probably using your Highest Talents™. In all likelihood you’re making your best contributions – to your clients, your team, your firm and perhaps to your community. And you’re enjoying your life more, both professionally and personally.

These four habits, practiced routinely, will help you build your practice and achieve more of the success you want, both professionally and personally, and live your best life!
